OT - Need to buy HDD Camcorder

OK, all... I need suggestions. I have $500 to buy a point and shoot HDD video camera. I don't care about features too much, since I edit in Vegas... but I am interested in the best video quality HDD camcorder for $500. This is for family stuff and for use as a 'panic back-up camera' for wedding shoots.

What do you think I should buy?

I own a Sony DCR-SR200, 30GB HDD. Its a bit higher priced than your budget, but there are less expensive models.
Just remember that with these units the video is compressed onto the HD, which yields a lower quality than you can get with a mini DV tape unit. I also noticed some serious interlace problems with my footage when displayed on the screen. I have to select 'reduce interlace flicker' on each and every clip I edit.
