OT: Network connection problems

Randy Brown wrote on 5/26/2005, 8:57 AM
Hi all,
Yesterday I had the little 2 computer icon (next to the one signifying my internet connection) with a yellow warning exclamation point. When I clicked it it warned me about "low or no connectivity". I clicked the repair button but it didn't work. I was able to move some mpeg files yesterday but it indeed was VERY sluggish opening and closing connections. This morning I thought I could maybe reset everything by unplugging my hub and was pleased to see the warning go away...yay!!!
Well now I can't connect at all. Any suggestions? Please keep in mind I went to MS help and read lots of articles on troubleshooting by pinging etc but could not relate to the terminology used.
TIA,
Randy

It did help John, thank you VERY MUCH my friend!!!
My Vegas PC, when exploring this PC, seems to be faster than ever. This PC however is kinda sluggish but nothing I can't live with.
Last question: My mapped network drives (on this PC) are not responding at all (I have to open "My network places" to get to my drive on the Vegas PC). I tried to right-click "my computer" to select map network drive" but nothing happens.
I'm thinking I should delete the others, does anyone know how to do this or have a better suggestion.
Again thanks very much John, I believe you saved me some money (not having to hire someone to fix it).

To map a network drive:
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type cmd.
3. Type net use x: \\computer name\share name, where x: is the drive letter you want to assign to the shared resource

See if that works.
