OT - New browser won't remember read threads

PeterWright wrote on 12/2/2003, 5:46 PM
I'm phasing in the use of Opera 7 instead of IE6 - it works more smoothly and faster than IE.

One thing I haven't yet been able to do is get it to "remember" which threads in Sony Media Forums I've read.

I have cookies enabled, and it does "remember" in other forums, but not his one.

Does anyone know of a setting which may help?

Thanks.

I'm using Opera 7 and it works fine for me. FWIW, I have "Identify as MSIE 6.0" selected (set using F12), not that it seems to fool any websites into thinking I'm actually USING MSIE.

Yeah - I'm on Opera 7 as well and it works for me.

These forums do change pretty quickly though - everything becomes unread within a few hours (if someone adds something to a thread it will show as unread).

Cheers

Thanks - but the colour changes in mine only last while the browser is still open - I can go to another forum and come back and they're still there, but if I close the browser then re-open immediately they're all gone.

As I said, with two other non-Sony forums it does remember, but not this one ...

Cookies must be working to some extent, because it recognises me without having to log in, but all messages keep going back to black - frustrating.

Must be something somewhere......

Found it!

Thanks to brandon in the Opera Forum, the problem was solved by unchecking "Use cookies to trace password protected pages" under File > Preferences > Privacy.

thanks

Peter

another one bites the dust .....
