OT ??? Not sure anymore

So once agin we have a new TOS here. So I re-logged in and read it. Now I have a question - this may be off topic, or it may get me kicked off of here - either way I am not sure and it is why I am asking. According to one of the new terms we are NOT allowed to:

Post topics unrelated to the specific subject of the forum including but not limited to rumors or speculations about existing or unreleased Sony products, discussions of Sony policy and procedures, and non-constructive complaints or petitions.

So just for my stupid mind here - this means, for example, we can not ask about audio in the video forums, video in the audio forums, DVDA in anything other than the DVDA forums and so on? Nor could we ask about any upcoming product or ask about possible bug fixes? And, per what I said at the start - even a question like I have just asked in no longer permited?

Really I am just asking because I think almost 100% of everyone on the video forums has done at least one of these things and I would hate to be banned for something I have done before - such as answer, or ask, an audio question in the video forums or asked about possible "rumor" clarification on an upcoming product. Many discussions have come up abouit copyright and about distribution. So I just want to be sure what is what.

And just a follow up - will there be forums added that will allow disccusions about what might be off topic now - copyright, influences, "wish lists" and so on?

Thanks.

The TOS was changed at least a week ago right? That's when we all got prompted to click "I agree" to the new terms. At the time there were discussions by many on what it all meant. I think we all agreed... just to keep on using this forum in whatever way it pleases us and at the same time moves us along as Vegas Editors.

I think we all pretty much know where to draw the line...

The new TOS simply makes it more of a direct possibility for Sony to jump in and decide to implement the "rules" whenever they feel it is appropriate. That is fine by me.

Since the TOS was altered... I've seen more rigorous moderation... but no post has been actively moderated or locked because it was Off Topic... rather... they were locked due to inappropriate behavior exhibited by some posters.

I think that what it means is that Sony reserves the right to determine what is OT, delete it, leave it, lock it, ban users, etc. It offers Sony the legal armor they need to keep tight control on these forums. I for one am very glad that they can/do, and have appreciated the smoother flow of the forums, whether it's talk about external monitors, copyright, lighting, mics, whatever...

I got prompted today with the new log-in and prompt about new changes so I just figured it happened sometime today because last night (and week) I posted as usual. Also everytime I click on a thread and a response in the thread I have to "ok" a cookie - *very* annoying. I also had to accept a "new" Sony certificate today as well. But either way - it's ok, just checking.

Today the forum moved from mediasoftware.sonypictures.com to sonymediasoftware.com. Since it's now under a new domain name all sorts of things including cookies and passwords and certificates are no longer valid and have to be re-entered. Once you've accepted the stuff once though, you should be fine after that.

You may want to update your forum bookmarks/favorites to the new domain name.
