OT: Okay... fed up; Software media players

blink3times wrote on 3/6/2009, 6:59 PM
I've tried 'em all.. VLC, WMP, Nero Showtime....

They ALL seem to missing SOMETHING so then I have to rely on yet another player that can do the ones the first one can't. I finally got fed up with this constant struggle to find a freebie player that does it all. Even the paid ones like showtime is missing something.

I just purchased cyberlink Power dvd 9 at a whopping $100... but it plays EVERYTHING. AC3 files, mov files, dolby true hd files, mts, m2ts, wav, mp3... MOD files, TOD files, TIVO files.... yadda yadda... and yes... even cineform avi's

FINALLY found a player that can do it all.... I was beginning to think it didn't exist.

Did you get the $10 off coupon?

Or is it a case of "NOW you tell me"?

More a case of "Now you tell me" :(

But I did get a $20 off coupon for Tiger Direct, which I will no doubt use for SOMETHING.

I love GOM Media Player for playing my HDV (m2t) files full screen on my 1920px-wide laptop. It seems to give better contrast than some of the other media players I tried.

re: the GOM Media Player.

This looks like a nice media player but it seems to lack drag and drop functionality. That is a deal killer for me. Am I missing something?

Edit: Oops. All of the sudden drag and drop is working. Not sure what happened. So it is worth a good look.

EDIT:

Nevermind, I found the right one. My bad!

I switched to The KMPlayer recently. It plays M2Ts with correct aspect ratio, has better contrast & sound than Zoom player, plays DIVX and all the others that I have tried. It also can transcode to another format (but not gracefully). It's free.
