Cheno:
The graphics were outstanding. There was also noise present in the red background on the mogel runs. Also too much noise in some of the mountain shots.

No blocking here--I have the Samsung 32 LN something or other---paid 1400 for it and I am very satisfied. I get my HD through Cablevision and I am very impressed. Fact is, I seldom watch anything anymore that isn't in HD---I'm spoiled.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this in the thread (I don't have time at the moment to read all the replies)...

This blog seems to have some good information about the technology behind the olympic coverage.

FYI Just heard that some of the cameras in use at the outdoor events were standard def 16:9 upconverted which might explain some of the artifacts.

Thanks for the link to the blogs. They probably know more than we affiliates do :-)

Watching the ice skating the picture was clear but a tad flat compared to when they switched back to central which was spectacular. The snowboard going down the hill thing was very unimpressive with terrible background focus and contrast issues. My Z1 blows them away in this respect. The abrupt scene changes have a teeny tiny ""artifact muoosh" on every scene change. You can't see this unless you are looking for it. I guess if the Samsung filters all this stuff out I will have to purchase a Samsung.

Its probably more of a signal issue---Some nights my HD looks like crap--then I will watch the same thing two nights later and it looks great.
