It depends on who defines OT. OT for you is probably not far enough OT for me to label it OT. Some slightly divergent posts are likely to be of interest to many Vegas users. You may think it OT, but to the many other Vegas users who appreciate the information don't see it as OT.

As far as the volume of postings, if the subject doesn't interest you, then don't open it.

I kind of like the idea of an OT forum: especially coming into an election like we are...

It's getting real difficult to navigate here with the massive increase in off topic threads that are not marked as such. Please be mindful of serious Vegas users who do not want to waste time sorting through so much OT subjects.

I've found no difficulty in navigating this forum based on Subject headings now or in the past . Whether or not the heading lists a message as off topic or not, I am usually able to determine from the available information if I would want to read it. In those cases where I've clicked on a thread that I have no interest in, I still usually give it a quick glance to see what is currently of interest to people, knowing that at some time in the future I could share just such an interest.

Ot, well that says to me, 'I'm unsure if I should be writing this post". Now oT. that I like. The way the T just leans on the o like an office worker leaning on the wall next to the coffee machine having a nice friendly (and oT) chat with a co-worker. Don't you think?

Well, when you multiply 2 negative numbers the result is positive... so given that, you may very well have a valid point.

Just did a quick count. I show 50 threads on my page, of which 7 are marked OT. In addition, there are 4 threads at the top marked "Sticky."

I don't mind the diversion from strictly Vegas topics in general. Most of them are tech-related anyway, which I obviously enjoy reading. Others are more diverse, but it's kinda fun to see what's on people's minds.

I would draw the line at topics involving politics and religion, which have been shown over the years to cause hard feelings. These two topics have been traditionally off-limits in other social settings which are meant to be friendly and welcoming in nature, and I wish that rule would be better observed here. But again, in general I think OT's make this forum a nice place to park and read what people from all over have to say.

But I still wonder what keeps the guys like Farss down in Australia from falling off the earth. Don't they realize they're on the bottom of the planet?
