"I tried this, yesterday, but AFAIK it accepts 128x128 pixels as a maximum, if I understand correct. Maybe this is enough, though.. Or I have misunderstood."
What you're seeing (128 x128) is the size of the EXISTING shape.
The max is 2048 x 2048, but the pics I'm importing are 3488 x 2616. It gives you the option to resize and/or crop as you import them.
Pick an emitter you like, and right click on it. Select properties. Click on the "particles" tab then click on the "change shape" tab. At the bottom you will see a few buttons... one of them is "add new shape". Click on that and it will allow you to import a new shape (a pic for example). The max size is settable up to 2048 x 2048, but if your pic is bigger then it will give you a resize/crop option.
I understand there are certain rules for importing pictures.
My pictures are 400x533 and I now understand that PI will not accept thise, they must be a factor of 2 or something. I have already tried wht you say, but thanks a lot anyway.
And I just learnt that the "Number" 100 is not 100 times but 1 time per life cyckle (100%). The fact that large images can be imported has brightened up my evening, thanks ;-)
What amazes me is how a 2d app can pull off a 3d look so convincingly
If you get your head around layer angle in the stage menu , emission angle and angle in the particle menu, at first it looks like they do the same thing
And so are overlooked,
Angle along with “size over life “in particle attributes menu can get you good results
Play around with this it will blow your mind
I will dump a clip on vimeo tonight using angles to give you some idea
>emission angle and angle in the particle menu, at first it looks like they do the same thing
Look like emission angle does nothing to me..
My current issue is that I am not able to turn off random frames (in my case images) on a particle. Either I always get the first image in the group, or they come out in a random manner, often giving me the same image twice.
It's really good to hear all the creativity relating to Pi - Love it!!
However, we are starting to use this board for Pi stuff where actually there is another Forum - over in the COW-shed which is CHOCK full of further creative solutions and a moderator more than willing to assist. Also I am starting to want to copy and paste stuff from THERE to make sure you can see another solution OVER HERE! - And that is the way of madness . . .
Now, up to you, but I am starting to realise that we have kinda run as far as we can here . . maybe not . . but we/you/I could be missing out on any further solutions by NOT "mixing-it" over there? Yeah? Moooooo . .. .
My input was a Pi<>Vegas ALPHA fundamental-interface issue. What and where we are getting into now is more "How do I so this in Pi?" - yes?
threads tend to cease after 40-60 posts, this sure also will.
Still we have about 20 posts less than the "Well done video" thread, which also happens to be OT.
Myself I see a lot of threads I just ignore completely, because they, like this one, leave no doubt about what is being discussed, and, unlike this, is of no interest to me.
This thread opened up a new world to me, I am very glad for the initial post.
Anyhows - thanks for contributing with a large number of posts in this thread ;-)
Anyhows - thanks for contributing with a large number of posts in this thread ;-)Ah, too, too kind! Anyhows, take a look at the Pi Forum on the COW.
As to openning up your mind to options, I'm all for it. And that is exactly another reason why I mentioned the COW.
As to the number of posts? - That don't worry me, nor was it part of the reason why I posted this Polite Notice. My point was solely about you/I/we missing out on what is somewhere else and me realising that I would be referring back and forth.
Again, I accept the transparent thanks you gave me, on the "large number of posts" posts I made here. Awfully kind of you.
Sorry, I had the impression you were policing. I apologize.
COW is nothing compared to this forum, according to my experiences. I have now and then had some questions hanging out over there, at COW, collecting dusts. In this forum, where we now are, I still have not had as much as a single question left unanswered. This is why it is tempting to continue to post here, despite the current topic is OT.
"Sorry, I had the impression you were policing." - Nope. I have no mandate for that, just somebody wanting the best for all of us.
However if you DO go to the COW and Pi Forum, you can read the responses I got from "Alan". They were both fast, pertinent and clear. If you are talking about the Vegas-Cow then all I see there is masses of answers and long threads with highly relevant answers. Plus, look at who moderates it too?
And yes, this Forum IS full of majorly video-savvy, intelligent people.
Actually, you've raised an interesting issue: Maybe there SHOULD be a facility for all Forums to have an Interim forum linage ability to spool-off think-tanks that deal with just, say here devel in Pi and Vegas. It would only need to be for the time of that research project? Or remain?
