If you click on the link in my last post for the user complaints, you will see that that MB is Out of Stock. On Google shopping I see a lot of them "refurbished". Not very promising. Get a different motherboard.

This is kind of dumb but have you tried re-seating the CPU?

Yup, R&R the CPU and look for bulging capacitors. Go on eBay to see how much a replacement motherboard and/or CPU would be. Looks like a heat-related intermittent, probably on the board.

My motherboard began acting flaky (swollen caps) several years ago, replaced it with an identical board off of eBay. Also bought a CPU on eBay that was the fastest one that would run on that board. Board about $50, CPU about $80. System runs great.

Well guys to give you the latest update about the PC.

The Good news the PC is running well again, with a new motherboard and CPU.
The previous hardware enigma remains an enigma, I have checked the capacitors of the old motherboard up close, nothing seem to be bulged. I can post a photo if needed.

A long time has passed, the dealer chain where I brought the PC to had financial problems so they halted their work for a while, later they looked at the pc' and said that it is probably the motherboard, but can't order a replacement.

I then collected the PC and bought a new Motherboard: Asus H81M-Plus and a new CPU: Intel Core I5-4460.

I hated the idea that a clean Windows install had to be done and that the previous profile and settings would be lost.

But I found a great way to make the previous Windows 7 compatible with the new hardware.

In short: http://www.dowdandassociates.com/blog/content/howto-repair-windows-7-install-after-replacing-motherboard/

1. Boot up the pc check if it starts, ours doesn't go any further than the Windows Logo then restarts, due to the new hardware.

2. Boot up the PC with Windows 7 installation disc.

3. Choose repair.

It says it can't, normally one would give up and do a clean install.

But here comes the magic.

As stated in the article above, I put the disc with drivers for the motherboard into the drive (I just inserted the motherboard driver CD that came with the new motherboard) then typed in 'dism /image:c:\ /add-driver /Driver:e:\ /recurse . and voila!

Windows installed all the necessary drivers and Windows just started as usual. All working fine and well, went through the control panel and checked if all hardware were installed and did a windows update as well just to make sure.

Now that the PC runs and can be used, I have been thinking of building an another pc using the old motherboard, CPU and the power supply, just as an experimental PC. Maybe after some experimentation I can find it's problem.
Maybe do a bios flash or even replace the capacitors.

Those small cube pc casings looks nice, if it runs fine then I could use it as a server or Home Theater pc.
