I moved the 107D to an external firewire box which was turned off when I did these burns. I seem to remember the jumper was in the "master position" on the 110D, as it had been on the 107D when it was working perfectly.

They don't always come jumpered that way. CD/DVD ROM drives and burners can also be jumpered as "slave" when you buy them.
Have you tried an 80-conductor cable instead of a 40-conductor cable?
I have my Pioneer 109 as master on the secondary. Lots of people had reported problems with the 109, but it has worked flawlessly for me, using the same version of Nero that you're using. I am using a 40 pin cable, not 80. I have a Sony DVD/CD-RW attached as a slave and it also works fine.
I agree with the others that Master/Slave may be a problem, or you may just have a bad unit.
Generally it's a bad idea to buy any new product immediately after launch.
Still, Pioneer isn't exactly a flakey manufacturer and their drives tend to need a quick firmware update at most.
My Pioneer 109 has also always been perfect, not even one coaster (with the best media).
Sounds like IDE bus overload. Today's DVD drives really should be Masters, and you should still make sure there is no other traffice on that drive cable when burning discs...
Nothing very useful in those posts at the link you provided over at cdfreaks. Some of them didn't even pick up on the fact you're still using the trusty old G04 discs.
True John, but in that forum there are a lot of other useful posts on Pioneer and other burners from people who seem to be obsessed with the subject.
I've returned both 110D burners I've tried for the time being and I'll try and get some Taiyo Yuden disks and a more compatible burner when my stock of G04 runs out.
