OT: Poser 5 for FREE!

JohnnyRoy wrote on 9/1/2006, 7:14 AM
OK, so you got Bryce 5.0 for free, why not Poser 5? The current version is Poser 6 but for 4 days only, Content Paradise is giving away the previous version of Poser 5 for FREE. That’s a $79 value.

Here is the link: Poser 5 FREE

Your Bryce renders will look pretty lonely without anyone in them so get yourself some “digital doubles”. Of course the reason they are doing this is to sell you content but everyone has to pay the rent somehow. ;-)

Content Paradise handles all of their free items just like a normal checkout. So you will have to open an account and give them some information but not your credit card. Once you complete the order you will be emailed a link and the link shows up in your account just like DAZ3D does. They offer free content every week so sign up for their newsletter.

I have no affiliation with them what so ever. I’m simply an owner of Poser 6 and I have bought content from Content Paradise so I know they are legit. I really like their wild-life and dinosaurs, etc. and my kids have a blast posing them, animating them and making little movies.

Enjoy,

~jr

Thanks JR,

I've been trying to download it for the last 4.5 hours without success.

Their website must have been swamped earlier. I reckon it's going to drown now :~)

Yea, I haven’t gotten mine yet either. The site is unbelievably slow so everyone must be downloading it. But hey, the price is right. ;-)

It took a while, but I finally downloaded the Setup executable and the CD Content zip file. Very nice software, by the way.

Thanks for the info JohnnyRoy...

The "download limit reached" page claims that each purchaser's download link will remain valid indefinitely. I may just wait until next week to try downloading it. The important thing is that i did get my serial number while it was still free.

The way I got mine was waiting until the server became unavailable, sometime between 11:00 pm and 12:00 am EST (I live in Canada). Then, just after the server became available again (sometime just past midnight), I started my download, and then let it run overnight.

The couple of times that I was fortunate enough to start the downloads throughout the day, it was at a speed of around 12K / Second, which would have taken forever to complete the downloads.

Hope this helps...

at that speed it would only take hours, not days. that's not a horrible speed.

Well, been to the site and I read this - good news?

"Due to overwhelming demand we are extending this offer through Midnight Friday September 8th, 2006. "

I'd say so! My it DOES take time. At the moment the Download Icon is not playing ball though.

Once you go to through the steps to sign up, add Poser 5 to your cart and check out, that's all you need to do before the 8th. The download link in your Stuff lists should be there, they say, "indefinitely".

So I'm going to wait until the mad rush is over to try to download it, probably later next week.

I am having the same problem. I am hoping this isn't just another spam trap.

Content Paradise is not a spam trap. There are in business to sell content. It’s like when you get a free razor in the mail. They are hoping you will keep it and buy more blades because the real money is in the blade business not the razor business.

When DAZ 3D hit the scene and started giving away their 3D posing environment, I suspect it put some pressure on Poser 6 which cost $200! Giving away the previous release of Poser 5 ($80) is probably a reaction to the free DAZ Studio. They are hoping that with more Poser users they will sell more content. It makes a lot of sense given their business model.

Everything that you buy at Content Paradise stays in your My Stuff section forever. So you can download it a month from now with no problems.

The extension is not good news. That means more potential downloaders adding to the congestion.

I was able to easily get to the site today. Clicked on "Poser5 Free!" 3 times, never got anything added to my cart, and after an hour got an email containing the download link. Strange process they use.

I got the download link on Friday, finally got the files themselves Sunday morning.
