OT: Power surge on Hub Port

Anyone every seen this message? Just started today. When you click on the message box for more details, I get this.

However, there are no devices plugged in to any of the usb 3.0 ports, only a mouse/keyboard into a single usb 2.0 port. Doesn't matter if you click reset or close, the box pops up immediately. I've done a couple of system restores to no avail. Also a search hasn't yielded any results. Any ideas or suggestions?

Do you have the most recent driver for your USB controller? If it is an integrated Intel device, have you installed the latest chipset.inf from Intel?

If you disable the device in bios, what do you get then?

After considering bios, disabling in Device Manager and updating drivers consider the possibility that it might be a cabling problem. Remove any USB headers that plug into the motherboard.

Solved or at least covered up!

@astar Thanks for the reply. Yes, all drivers were up to date, but I re-installed them anyway to no avail. Found a Western Digital link that recommended simply "hiding" the message. Under the Intel Chipset Controller, there is a box that says "Don't tell me about USB errors". I checked it and the messages disappeared. Problem solved (???). Everything now works as it did before, but the message is gone. Very strange.

@john dennis. Yes, I had removed all the cables. Like I said, there was nothing connected except one USB 2.0 for mouse/keyboard.
