OT: Praise to MPC

Ok, I want to share this with you. I've tested the Media Player Classic for a little while now. God damn it's good. It plays everything I throw at it, and I do mean everything. It never complains. For example; I downloaded a funny clip from the web. When played in WMP9 the player started to download a codec. After downloading WMP9 said "Naaaah, I won't play the clip anyway. Click here if you want to find the codec on the web". I clicked and ended up on a microsoft page that said, "sorry, don't have that codec here".

I then tried it in MPC which responded: "Sorry, you don't have that codec". In the dialog window it gave me all possible information about the codec needed so if I wan't to I can hunt it down on the net (it was an audio codec). After clicking OK it starts playing the video without audio! It plays what it can and don't worry 'bout the rest. WMP9 does not do that.

It natively plays subtitle files with the avi and I don't have to install VobSub! I can even change placement, font and size.

Wait, there's more! How about playing Real- and QT-files in it? Nemas problemas! And it's quick. All sorts of mpeg's, avi's, dvd's, ogg's and weird formats you've never heard of before. I mean everything!

I love this little player. It coexists with WMP9, QT and Real without problems. I'll keep WMP9 and the other players for testing purposes and managing my mp3 playlists but as of now, MPC is my deafault player.

Thanks to everyone on this forum who recommended it.

if they are named the same and in the same directory - it will also play seperate audio and video files together ...

it also installs nothing on your system - totally self contained ...

you can also easly adjust size and aspect ratio correctly - which wmp never could do or get right much of the time.

i havn't tried it - but a lot of people also say zoom player is very good ...

Yep, forgot to mention that. :)

I'll stick with MPC. Totally satisfied.
