OT: Quicktime problem... help?!

I am running 64bit Vegas 9b on a 64bit Vista machine.

Quicktime has stopped working for me, so I'm unable to edit MP4 files in Vegas.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Quicktime a bunch of times.

It will install, but when I try to run Quicktime player, I get an error message saying DEP is preventing it from running.

Anybody see anything like this? Help!?!?!

did you try disabling DEP? It comes up for me when I run explore sometimes. :D

I don't have thisissue, but have had issues with some other programs, e.g. Cineform Neo Scene. What I do, is I add the installation file to the DEP exception list and that seems to prevent any further issues. Adding something to the DEP exception list means you don't have to totally disable UAC.

There is apparently no way to totally disable DEP in Vista 64bit. Not even an option for it.

I did try to add quicktimeplayer to the DEP exception list, but it gives an error basically saying "you ain't allowed to turn DEP off for this application."

Try disable DEP for the Quicktime installation file and re-install. Uninstall the existing Quicktime first. I am assuming you have Administrator privileges.

Thanks, Xander. I was able to disable DEP for the installation file, but this approach gave the same result. Quicktime still doesn't work.
