Hmmm... I'm afraid that one flew over my head. Haven't had my morning coffee yet, however.

I'm still typing away on my AMD XP 2100 single-core system here. Waiting in the wings (actually, in the closet nearby) is an ASUS A8V motherboard and an AMD 3800x2 dual-core processor, which I assume will be about 3 times faster than this one. I wonder how much faster a quad-core system would be than the x2.

That's the best thing about technological progress. Lots of cheap, cast-off "obsolete" gear for skinflints like me!

They've been out for a few years... You could get Opteron's in Single, Duel, Quad or (not windows supported) 8 CPU config's. Last year they released duel core optron's I think & that (obiviously) doubled the cores.
