"So do me a favour, and don't reply to any threads I start."

Deal. We don't seem to see eye-to-eye on very many topics related to production.
A reasonable reciprocal request would be, if you're mind is made up, don't post in the form of a question.
I also refuse to engage in any pi**ing contest relating to experience. It's a diversion from the topic you posted.

Rather than saying "my way is the only way," which is unnecessarily limiting, I see my professional role as coming prepared with the resources and knowledge to cover any reasonable contingency, not harboring negative expectations, which always affect the outcome, and having the knack of creating a pleasant working rapport with the house staff, whether their resident "little tyrant" be a vicar, public servant, volunteer receptionist, or janitor. Often all they want is a little positive attention, and would really rather work with me than do battle. Those qualitative principles are universally applicable, no matter what setting or continent in which one is working.

I know of no solution, other than on-subject miking and "maybe" a house feed of some sort, that will improve on the situation you described, the way I imagine it.

Expect the best, come prepared for the worst, and it will be good enough..

From my website: "Expect the best, plan for the worst, and prepare to be surprised"

At least we agree on something. ;-)

I think I covered your "work with me" point in my post above too. Who'd a thought we'd agree twice in the same day?

I will just lastly say; Whatever you think, I never post a question If my minds already made up. What's the point? If anyone had come up with something that was right for this job, I'd have jumped all over it. It'd be daft not to.
Peace.
