OT: Rendering timing out because of vista

I'm trying to render a very large video project I put together with Vegas Pro 8 and my computer keeps shutting off in the middle of the night.

1) Why does Vista Business not see rendering as an activity?

2) Where in Vista is causing the computer to turn off? I checked under the power settings and I have it set to NEVER sleep. I do have the monitor going off after 20 minutes but surely that wouldn't cause the hardrive/computer to shut off.

Any help would be appreciated...

Have you checked inside your machine to ensure heat is not the culprit? Often times our machines will shut down when they are on the verge of overheating. Get out the can of air and clean out your fans, PS, RAM and anything else that may have dust trapped in it (heatsink) and then make sure your ram is seated properly and the same goes for your heatsink.

Thanks for the help Jrazz! My fan in the back of my mini tower is not working properly hence the overheating is occurring. I'm going to stop by the local hardware store and pick up a new case fan.

Hopefully, I did not damage my cpu :)

If your computer is still running at all it's highly unlikely you damaged the CPU. If you had damaged the CPU at all it's highly unlikely that your computer would even boot up.

I got the new fan tonight and my temp is way down in my case. Amazing how important air flow can be on a system. This also explains why my CPU fan has been running 100% of the time. Looks like my system is up and running again.

Thanks.
