"A co-production between HBO* and the BBC, Rome brings together the Emmy award-winning producers of series Six Feet Under and The Sopranos, with the BBC's worldwide reputation for period dramas. Launched earlier in the year on HBO in the US, Rome now comes to BBC TWO. "

I hope timer on my new DVD recorder works as I am away for 3 weeks. I wonder if I should also set the VHS VCR on timer as well. Looks like a a very promising series.

Grazie,

Have you folks gotten Deadwood yet? Amazing western by David Milch who was famous in the states for NYPD Blue. It's about a Gold Rush boomtown in the Old West that is not US territory, not tribal territory. It was the first time I saw Ian McShane who is amazing in it.

If you've never heard of Ian McShane before, keep an eye out for the series "Lovejoy", about a likable rogue antiques dealer with a shady past in East Anglia. In the US it occasionally shows up on PBS stations. Well worth watching, and it has a superb supporting cast of odd-balls and misfits.
