Going good, have got 3d shapes, 3d text, shadows/lighting, full fledged camera animation and backward compatibility with good ol' 3dle working fine. Now adding other FX like particles... sorry but no estimated time of release. But a beta will be there soon, with tutorials on how to use the new interface and how it integrates with Vegas.

You are amazing!

Are you going to charge for this I would hope so I just spent a good amount on a compositing program and for all the stuff you are going to be implementing I think you should make something on it for all of your hard work, just keep it reasonable ;-) You truly are da Man!

Genius !

... and it will support hardware acceleration so PCs with latest graphics cards would render the mentioned effects atleast twice as fast (not just the preview, render too).

Wow !
Are you still working on that Photoshop/AE plugin wrapper ?
rextilleon wrote on 11/26/2003, 9:00 PM
Its so funny with Satish--asking him about the Photoshop wrapper would be like asking Mother Theresa when she is going to show up in my neighborhood to help some of the less fortunate. But yes, Satish, are you working on the wrapper? --LOL

it is in the backburner... once wax plugin for vegas is released i'll be moving adapter suite to wax so you could use all vdub/photoshop plugins inside wax (inside vegas).

Satish, is the new stuff OGL supported then? That would be great.
satish wrote on 11/27/2003, 8:05 AM
yes spot, it supports full fledged opengl acceleration. Not just for previews, but full rendering too.

Woohoo! :) OpenGL 1, 1.1, 1.2? Or all? :) Just wondering if my "old" Radeon 8500 will cut it. :)

ps: Where do I send the check? :) You DESERVE it!

Do You use PBuffer extension? Is it stable enough now? I have some OpenGL + PBuffer code, but ~year ago the PBuffer not worked good enough.

This open GL thing came up recently in connection with Boris - can someone please fill in a few gaps in my knowledge:

1. Presumably a graphics card either IS or ISN'T Open GL enabled.

2. If so, which cards ARE ...

3. Presumably with a laptop we're stuck with what's there.

4. How about Dual head cards? -( I have a Matrox G550 which I believe is not Open GL)
Ivan_I wrote on 11/29/2003, 5:55 PM
Sorry, but I not have an explicit answer.

In addition to the OpengGL, plugins often use some OpengGL extensions. For example - almost all graphics cards support hardware OpenGL acceleration, but only for on-screen rendering. It is why in some plugins/apps only on-screen preview is hardware accelerated, but the final rendering - not. Unfortunately video plugins often require off-screen rendering. PBuffer OpenGL extesion allow hardware accelerated off-screeen rendering, but it is not enabled in some graphics cards.
I think the best way to choose the "right" graphics card is application's "Supported hardware" list.

Sounds very cool Satish!!! It seems you are working on the Vegas5 update all by yourself :) Even though I am an After effects/Cinema 4d addict, the more I can do inside of Vegas, the better ...bring on that beta goodness....

Wax 2.0 is almost ready for beta. Folks who would like to help me out with the pre-beta testing (so that most issues could be sorted out before a public release...) please send me a mail (to the webmaster of debugmode dot com).

Thanks
