OT: Screening our Movie In Syracuse

Hey all,

I know there's a chunk of us in the central new york region, and I wanted to extend an invitation for a private screening of "Waiting On Alphie" on October 29th @ 2pm. It will be at a digital theatre that seats 700, so don't be shy.

You can email me - kevin a t harkproductions d o t com - to be put on a list so I can send out further details.

For those who may have missed it previously, this is a LOW-LOW budget movie we shot in 6 days back in April. It's a digital film we cast & crewed locally, shot on a GL2 and was edited entirely in Vegas 6. It's a quirky movie about two hitman on an all-night stand off in a café. There's a lot of music, some interesting editing (if I do say so myself) and our Waiter wears a VASST t-shirt. You can check out a trailer of it on my website. Warning: this movie has strong language. It would also be great to meet up with someof you in person.

Hope to see anyone who can make it. Thanks.

Kevin

Kevin,
Congrats to you, wish we could attend. I REALLY enjoyed the movie, especially the discussion of what pie is available. We were joking about that tonight.
Lately, between you, Muttley, and Stan Harrington, seems like some attention getting films related to Vegas are popping out. I hope you guys have a hit on your hands. Hard to imagine you shot this film in 6 days. Sounds good, looks good, good editing, great story.

Thanks, Spot, glad you guys liked it.

The Vegas angle will hopefully get bigger and bigger. I know a few people who have switched to Vegas. Nobody who has gone elsewhere from Vegas. V6 saved me countless hours with the new sync features alone.

"Waiting On Alphie" has been one tremendous learning experience. And now the ball's really rolling on my next project, as I already have name talent attached and am knocking on some distribution doors. Anyone who questions whether Vegas can cut it "in the real world" should take a second look.

I REALLY wish I could go... but I work week nights & driving from the buffalo area to mid-state would be quite a hike for me. :(

However, the local art center runs indi-films: http://www.springvillechamber.com/Arts/Arts.htm

if you could get it shown there (don't know if you need to show up or ifyou could just send it in) then I'd go to that! One of the guys who runs it is an indi-filmmaker too and they have indi-film nights there on a regular basis. The promo make it look interesting... I'd like to see it.

Steve,

Since all of our principal actors are from Buffalo, a screening there is going to happen. I'll post it here when that happens.

Thanks for the contact. I'll pass it along to my producer.

that's about 25 miles south of buffalo, but I'm sure I could make a buffalo one.

Remember watching the trailer you posted a while back and really liked it, you mention the screening is at a "digital" theater , what is your movie delivered to the theater on ?
, I hope you have a real sleeper on your hands,, best of luck to you and your crew .

It's on DVD right now. The presentation is 24p, but there's no reason to transfer to film unless absolutely necessary. Most of the big festivals will take digital formats of some kind. (Hopefully we'll have that problem in the near future...)

Thanks for your good wishes. I hope we have a sleeper on our hands as well.
