Anything can be done with digital, and that's exactly what the industry is trying to do.

This is a current bill. If it passes, you can be prosecuted for skipping past commercials or promotional announcements in recorded content.

Who would prosecute? It is proposed that the Justice Department use tax money to pay for lawyers to handle the prosecution, so the industry doesn't have to.

I must have fallen into the rabbit hole (from Alice in Wonderland), this is so bizarre.

Well, that just goes to show you how stupid people in Hollywood and Washington really are. How on earth could they ever enforce a law that forbids someone to skip over commercials and/or promotional material? Will discs come with an SS agent to report such infractions. How stupid can they get?!

It'll probably pass because too many of the people are too darn lazy to stand up for their rights. As for me, if it does pass, I'll stop buying commercial discs and stop going to the movies (not that I go that much anyway, I usually wait for the disc).
