OT: short film shot and edited on new iPhone

I'm no Apple fan by any stretch of the imagination (I have an Android phone, use PC's, and edit with Vegas), but I think you'll admit this short video that was shot and edited on the new iPhone isn't too shabby:

At the end of the video it shows a "making of" and some of the equipment they used to get the shots of the trains, thought it was interesting at least.

Hey Kevin, clever use of the iPhone camera but I don't think I'll be switching to the iPhone for editing any time soon ;-).

Well, I happen to think that is quite amazing, and a great job.
Surely will never use the iPhone to actually edit anything but the idea of using its camera in small places like a view from being on the train I think is really handy.

I agree Ted. I'm reminded of my high school buddy that attached his brownee camera (yea, it was a while ago) to a box kite, rigged a remote shutter release, and took aerial photos.

Re the IMAX 3D iPhone - we'll have more on this as soon as an Apple employee drops one off a San Jose bar.

EDIT: Oh, and I just remembered - my ex manager's son taped his dad's p&s video camera to the top of his RC nitro powered race car and drove it over a ramp at about 30mph. All was ok until the car flipped over on its top. Scratch one camera. But the video was terrific.

Jerry, I thought there'd be an app for that already :-)

Yeah, I don't plan on doing any editing on my phone anytime soon...

Although with my Android phone I could probably do some awesome editing with the online Youtube editor...

Talking about POV shots, anyone have an Estes CAMROC model rocket camera?

Have a few good shots from a rubber band shutter!

iPhone.....where to glue the stabilizer fins.....

Considering it's an Apple product it was probably shot with a $20 000+ camera and edited on Avid then purposely degraded to look what they think would appear both; as good quality and believable as an iPhone cam/edit.

That's how it's usually done.

I think Apple would take your post as a complement that you think this was shot and edited on fancier equipment than what was shown in the ending "outtakes and how it was made".

That was sweet.. i could see it being useful in really tight spots or in a situation where the shot isn't worth losing a Pro camera. Thanks for the post..

Yeah oddly enough, I was doing a broadcast from Lollapalooza this year with some of the headliners and wanted to get a shot of Lady Ga Ga (who I can't stand before I get pounced by you guys) the Ga Ga crew was going crazy kicking everyone out of the backstage area even production staff. We left the eng crew at the trailer and I snuck a video from my iPhone 4 of her entering the stage and waving to the crowd. The footage actually looked good enough to tease in our broadcast. I was impressed but not enough to film the Soungarden show with one tied to our jib. My 2 cents.
