That sucker's pretty small, I don't mind a pretty small recorder when it comes to personal stuff - too much bulk gets in the way.

There is a slightly different/edited version at Studio Magazine. The version on the VASST website has comparitive images, the Studio Monthly does not.

Hi Spot - excellent review - would love to have it on www.uwdv.com - email me if it is a possibility..

Thanks for the other link. The VASST version doesn't work with Opera (why??), and using IE it's just a leetle too wide for me to read the text without scrolling it back and forth.

Thanks, Randy and Spot.

Any timeframe to download some footage to play with? Curious about how well the new codec holds up.

I'm not permitted to allow download of the footage until the cam starts shipping, because the reader you need comes with the cam. Until that time, folks have been using various avc decoders, none of which are as good as the Sony-authored reader. As a result, the footage ends up taking a beating by whatever converter/decoder is used.
I'm really hoping their tech support pages for the cam have the decoder on there soon, so the footage can be released.
