"The New Economics of HD"

But first this message from their 3rd party "Second Life" type web show vendor, InXpo:

To interact with the online show requires a Windows PC with Internet Explorer 6.0 minimum, Firefox 3.0 to 3.0.14 , or Chrome 1.0 or higher. Mac with Firefox 3.0 to 3.0.14, and Safari 3.1 or higher are also supported. Linux Fedora Core 9 is also a supported operating system. Macromedia Flash Player 9 or higher is required. Access to the internet using high speed access (Cable, DSL, Network) is highly recommended for the overall show and is required for all presentations. Pop-up blockers must also be disabled and cookies and JavaScript should be enabled. On entering the show, a system check is run which will identify computer requirements that need to be addressed to interact with the online show. It is recommended to view the show with the display resolution of 1024 x 768.

Don't forget to go to the Control Panel to reset your screen resolution from the common 1920x1200 to 1024x768, this of course after you have uninstalled Firefox 3.5 and installed FF3.0.14, disabled pop-up blockers, and located an old copy of "Macromedia Flash" that will hopefully be "Version 9."

Sigh.

Somewhat cool-looking end result, will pass on anything interesting.

I do think the web expo concept needs some further development though.

Google the show if you want to check it out, I can't find my original invitation right now.

I logged in and visited... mostly to qualify for the rebate when I buy the PMW 350 in January. But on my DSL, the load times were excruciatingly long, and frankly, not worth the wait.

Even the XDCAM HD booth shows Vegas Pro 8 Manual, but together with the other third party manuals like Adobe Premiere Pro.

Managing "Sony" must be like managing China, where there is a very old saying that is still part of the culture:

"Every morning the sun rises, and the emperor is far, far away."

:O]

I can just imagine the battles SCS has had to go through to get Vegas to be even mentioned by the Broadcast division.

Slow here too, but the videos work very well even in 1920x1200 full screen. You'll find them most easily in the auditorium. Draggy talk, but interesting some of it.

Good NXCAM presentation, shot with one.

Andy Munitz, Training Manager, Sony Professional and Broadcast, even showed how easy it was to edit NXCAM footage natively in Vegas Pro 9 on his laptop and burn a quick Blu-Ray disk from it.

"Same price as the Z5," which should mean just under $4K here, and "shipping early next year."

Looks quite interesting. Full raster 1080P, High quality LPCM audio, killer 1.2 MP LCD.
