OT - Sony Vaio vs Sony Vegas

Anyone find it interesting that the Sony Vaio advertised for video editing on the Sony Vegas page has options to bundle Adobe Premiere or DVgate Plus for the editor, but no Sony Vegas? Perhaps they should update their bundle contracts, kinda embarrasing. Also the price is only $499 at Sony Style vs $559 at Sony Creative.

This comes up all the time. The reason for Premiere being bundled with Vaio computers is this: Vaio computers are marketed on a world-wide basis and Premiere is available in a wide variety of languages, Vegas is available in only four languages. It's as simple as that.

Other folks have implied that the Vaio division have signed a long term contract with Premiere before Vegas took off in popularity.

There could be any number of reasons, but Sony Computer will bundle whatever they think will sell more COMPUTERS.

Steve it would be nice if the makers/marketers of Vegas this the same and included option that will sell more software rather then include option that will sell more Sony's camera. XDCam, i mean come on, i know that there are folks who are thriled but including it in Vegas without say support for HVX200 (the way it's integrated in FCP)... It starts looking obvious that person responsible for what's included in next version of Vegas cares more about selling other Sony's products rather then the editing app itself.

Personally I don't care what the reason is, I've mouthed off about this before, I think it's galling. I cannot imagine someone up the chain there at Sony going "Um, wtf are we doing? We do have SONY editing software don't we?"

If you don't endorse your own products, who the hell will?

Responding to the original question - there should be no surprise about bundling DVGate - it's Sony editing software!

.... which suggests another question.
