OK - So when are we gonna see a CineScore forum (or a special intro price deal for Vegas users for that matter)?
==========
This has been asked for a few years:
When are they going to combine the DVDA and Vegas Video forums to make it easier. You can't buy DVDA without Vegas anyway and there are an incredible number of double posts because of this?
Whatever rearrangement of forum sections gets made, I would hope it would also address the issue of DVD Studio posts ending up in the DVD Architect area. I feel bad for the person asking the question when I give them a detailed explanation, only to find out it has nothing to do with the product they are actually using. It seems to me that there are more posts in that forum for the studio version than the high-end version.
And, of course, I then curse under my breath for having wasted my time. I seldom answer questions in that forum anymore, as a result.
Ditto! It does get discouraging when 9 posts later you realize the person you’ve been helping for two days doesn’t even have the full version of Vegas.
Hey you don’t suppose it could be because the correct form that Vegas Movie Studio users should use doesn’t even have the word “Vegas” in the title now do you???
Perhaps if Sony renamed the Movie Studio/VideoFactory forum to something like Vegas Movie Studio forum it might help. I mean come on now no one has used VideoFactory in years.
I still think the full version of Vegas needs something else after its name like Vegas Pro to distinguish it from Vegas Movie Studio (and the city in Nevada) ;-). Then we won’t have to play the “who’s on first” game.
VMS user: I am using Vegas
Vegas user: No but you are using Vegas Movie Studio and I am talking about Vegas.
VMS user: But I am using Vegas.
What? I... uh... use VideoFactory. I thought that is what this forum was for? Wait a minute... so your telling me that I have been in the wrong forum this whole time? No wonder I could never do what you all was talking about.
Further OT, I like that Edward Troxel has a separate forum on his JetDv site for "Vegas Special Effects" and have thought there are enough of those type posts here to warrant their own forum. This would be a good place to go to learn more about compositing, chromakeying, rotoscoping, titling, etc. with Vegas. And it might encourage even more discussion about the cool things you can do with Vegas.
What we really need is an OT forum. It would make searching the Vegas forum for help and Vegas product info so much easier.
There seems to be more OT posts than Vegas posts in the Vegas forum. I would still read the OT forum if there was one.

That's because someone around two years ago put up a fuss that people weren't putting an OT in front of topics HE felt should be considered Off Topic. So now a lot of people put an OT in front of topics that are really On Topic or relevant to our needs just to avoid stirring up the relatively few people who find fault with insignificant things. That person no longer posts here by the way.
The only reason some OTHER forums have gone to a separate OT forum is because the administrators and several of the "diamond" or "gold" members want it that way. The forum administrators here have been great about allowing threads about just about any topic because of the general civility and respect the vast majority of forum members here show toward one another. It is one of the reasons I enjoy this forum so much and try to help anyone who participates in any small way that I can even if means passing along an "Off Topic" tech bargain I feel someone here could really use.
btw, John, I'm one you've helped with the tech deals. I check out most of them, always looking for a good IDE hard drive deal, and have started monitoring rss feeds thanks to you.
