OT : Sound Dropouts to Pioneer DVR-7000

I used to set up my Pioneer 7000 set top burner to copy avi files via 1394 interface direct to DVD. This was great for simple no-menu DVDs.

I'm now encountering a problem wherein an avi file being output to the burner via 1394 shows sound dropouts of 1 - 2 seconds on a regular basis. They may not show up for several minutes, but once they start, they occur on a regular basis (such as every 3min and 35 seconds, or every 2 min 47 sec).

I can output to my camcorder via 1394 with no problems. I can use the camcorder as a pass through D/A converter and feed the Pioneer's analog inputs with no problems. I can feed the Pioneer via 1394 from my camcorder with no problems.

I'm running Win 2000, Norton disabled, discs defragged, OHCI compliant 1394, P4 1.4GHz with 512 RAM. This happens with every NLE I try.

HELP!!! (please)

Sounds like you need to contact Pioneer, not Sony. ;o)

Curmudgeon,
Unfortunately, Pioneer does not staff their help line with very hi tech people (and I don't think it's a Pioneer problem anyway).

It's definitely not a Sony problem.....hence my OT disclaimer. I'm merely hoping that the experience base on this forum may have an idea I have not tried.... :-0

Thanks Curmudgeon, didn't intend to sound grumpy. This is an obscure problem.....
