OT: SOUND LIBRARY MANAGING APPLICATIONS

To all of you

I have been searching the internet for a database application specialized for managing background sound effects (and royalty free music). The only application I’ve found is FINSOUNDS PALETTE and I’m testing it now. (I use Helium Music Manger 2006 to manage my CD collection which I’ve copied to my PC.).

My first impression: I can use FindSounds Palette to categorize my sound files the way I want; I can search and preview the sounds and I can search the internet for downloadable sounds. Great! But, so far I have three complaints: First, the pro version of FindSounds Palette costs $100. Second: The program only supports Wave, AU and AIFF files (and not Flac and Ogg files, for example). Third, it’s only possible to create one database (not one for sounds and one for royalty free music, as an example).

Questions:

1. Do any of you use FindSounds Palette and what is your opinion about this application?

2. Do you know about other similar applications that let you mange sound effect files (and royalty free music)?

Thank you,
Joran
