A stock footage provider is interested in carrying my underwater video footage and charging their clients 20-45 euro per second for it. They want exclusivity on the particular cips. What would be a typical royalty percentage (or flat fee) payable to the creator in this case?
Here is a link to a startup, more of a community right now than big name stock footage house, so their price per clip is much less, and their percentages should be higher than the pro houses (I would think).
I think I remember a couple of months ago their percentages to the content producer were about 49% for non-exclusive and 65% for exclusive. These may be artificially high
Big stock houses probably have more overhead, thus lower percentages. Just a guess, though.
if it were me, i'd PERSONALLY take a slightly lower % so it's non-exclusive. Just because I may want to do something with it later (maybe a better offer comes along for it after a few other companies, see, etc). Unless I purpusly shot it with the intention to sell it to them.
Good for you having your footage be good enough to be put in a stock footage house! :)
They initially offered 12-15 Euros. After I suggested a percentage they offered 40%. So now I know that's low, especially as they want exclusivity over the particular clips.
