OT: stop motion - The Pen Story

It's actually a 3 min. commercial.
If you can guess what the product is before the end of it, you win a rubber cigar :-)

Mike

In the creator's own words:

This is the PEN Story in stop motion. We shot 60.000 pictures, developed 9.600 prints and shot over 1.800 pictures again. No post production! Thanks to all the stop motion artists who inspired us. We hope you enjoy :-)

While we were looking for a way to realise a story describing "a journey through time" based on printed images, we were inspired by Mr Takeuchi's brilliant work.

and there i was quite happy with my 'flip-book' that i did out of 50 snaps......

very impressive indeed. note that they 'developed 9.6k prints'? does this mean they:

a. shot film to advertise a digital camera?

b. decided there wasn't a good enough inkjet printer around to print out their 9.6k prints (or, more likely, their budget wouldn't stretch to that amount of cartridges?)

leslie

ps. when are you going to send me where to send money!!!!

ps. when are you going to send me where to send money!!!!

I promise I'll do it this week!!
I know I said I'd do it last week but when you're home with the kids AND a honey-do list, it's amazing how little free time you have :-(

On the rubber cigar Mike how flexible are you gonna be?

Absolutely loved it…and how flexible you were in the settings..balloon and skydiving action
I noticed when the guy was in his middle years there seamed to be a lot of stuff [products] in his life in front of the pics but as he got older it simplified again

Excellent Mike thanks for sharing

Mike I would really appreciate it if you gave away some of your technique

Was the final take all in pics ? or was some video mixed in. I can see that you set the pics out in sequence and progressively shot
How you set your tripod up and what unforeseen problems can come up you know the ones that half way through a project jump up unexpectedly

I would like to try this out

thanks
Rory

I believe that Mike (rs170a) just posted a link to the work, he did not actually create the work.

My apologies…nevertheless how would one go about creating something like this?

Hello Rory,
did you ever get any response to this question?

Until that time ... Earl J.
