It's interesting that the few times I've helped folks struggle with video editors, they find it hard to understand that the sound and picture, at times, may need to be separated. If the sound is just what you want, but the picture is shaky, it doesn't occur to them to find a different image and use that sound or the other way around. They think sound and picture are locked together permanently, like in single system.

We spent a good deal of time back in the day syncing up footage, especially in documentary or "Verite" type shooting where it was not always possible to get a slate or clapper. Keeping sound and picture exactly in sync was always a battle in the editing room. No "sync" button, like in Vegas. My wife got pretty good at detecting when something had fallen out of sync. She notices stuff like that even today.

I've found that I too have a real problem with audio being out of sync, it drives me up a wall.

Thank goodness for being able to disable the Quantize to frames when needed.
