Lol!
Sure, I suppose I deserved that...but nobody is saying "pat sucks". We all have had to do this puff work. Whether it be these kids/teen music videos, infomercials, commercials, weddings, adult crapola, website advert/advert vids, lower 3rd washes, whatever, etc....etc. I'm just not sure it requires posting about here (mor ethan once at least) when it's simply more sh*t like the above, as if this stuff is really deep or meaningful. It's typical rap music video with amatuer flair.

My reply is just post the vids that are special and have some meaning....which would first require working on stuff that has more meaning.

Love,
the honest a-hole

jay, drinking more coolaid helps.

I know this one really talented DP, yet i could never figure out why he works so little until i hired him to be my AC on a shoot, then i realized his vibe sucked - so no wonder after initial meeting people never call him back. somehow your negative attitude remaind me of him...

back in art school i learned to keep my mouth shut if my negative comments weren't follow by some constructive criticism -- great lessons that serves me to this day (not that i'm that old...)

The one thing I have learned in this business is you have to have thick skin as not everyone will be as enthralled with your work as you are. When you put your work out to share with others, you will get criticism without being constructive.

Be proud of your work. Even though I could care less for the sounds that come from it, I appreciate the effort it took in putting it together. But dont think that everyone will be impressed. Actually, I have found the opposite is more likely.

One lesson I will leave you with....if you put your stuff out there for others to consume, you have to be willing to take whatever words are offered. Granted "you suck" or "it sucks" doesn't help you in any other way than to just ignore that person the next time around when you go searching for feedback.

Yes, but ultimately it serves the other people less then me. I can't complain about not having enough DPing and directing gigs coming in (as a matter of fact sometimes i have to recomend other DPs as i can't fit it all in my schedule). One of the reason people that worked with me before keep coming back is my attitude. So i'm sure same is the reson why people with negativity don't work that often (think of that DP i was talking about earlier). I went through so many crits (good and bad) in school that i learned not to pay much attention.

Rob Reiner: complete jerk to some
Mel Brooks: Complete jerk to some
John Carpenter: Complete jerk to some
Steven Speilberg: started out known as a complete jerk
G. Lucas: same as above
Scorcese: you'll do things his way
M. Mann: stated as being a hard nose, complete jerk
Orson Welles: stated as being a complete jerk
M. Bay: same as above
Ridley Scott: same
Dean Cundey (another best in biz - dop): Complete jerk to some

This list could go on and on...and it's all hearsay and perception or 100% truth

Seeing this thread keep popping to the top I took time to have a look. Excellent lighting and photography, good cutting, well directed. No idea what the lyrics are, but that's not a criticism of the audio. Maybe a bit repetitious, but I guess the lyrics determined the length. Reading the restrictions on time and budget, none of that shows. Like the scenes at the end of the guy tossing you the money --at least you were paid;-) The group ought to be extremely pleased with their video.
