Just to bring you guys up to date on the school video saga - I was required to get permission slips signed for every kid who participated before we could sell the DVD. Well, the teachers really stepped up and hounded the kids and the parents and we got 100% permission! Selling commenced this morning, so we have today and tomorrow to sell them before school is out for the summer. ('Course, they can still contact me during the summer if they want a copy...)
The district is amending its student handbook policy to require parents agree at the beginning of the year that their child may be photographed or video'ed in whatever activities they participate in. As my daughter will be participating in Outdoor Ed next year, I'll probably do the video again, so it's good to know that things will be cleared ahead of time.
The final product turned out great. We are selling a 90-min DVD for $20, with the proceeds to benefit the school. I used customflix.com to make the DVDs for 5.95 each - complete with custom disk face labels, custom DVD covers, and shrinkwrapped.
So, a happy ending for all...
