OT: timecode reading problems

I think I have asked this before and I hope someone has some ideas.
I am talking about TIMECODE, not the time/date stamp.

On my Sony Digital 8 camera, for a long time using either Pinnacle or Sony to capture, the timecode will almost always drop to 00.00.00.00 after running for around 10 minutes. I thought this was a hardware problem with my camera. But recently I have been capturing on my Mac Using Final Cut and the timecode does not stop running. It seems rock solid.

Okay, maybe something with windows, but then I loaded Adobe premiere on a cloned windows drive, same computer and hardware, etc. In Premiere the timecode does not stop reading and change to zeros like it does in Pinnacle and Vegas.

Any clues at all. Is it possible that Premiere is using its own drivers and thus, does not drop the timecode?

Please ask questions if something isn't clear. I would really like to figure this out.
