the opening seemed a little funny - (odd as well as funny, funny) but the story seemed to really hook me there towards the end - I don't usually do - indie type films (not really my cup of tea, but I may have to check into this movie).

Very Nicely Done!
If your editor puts the movie together the way this trailer is... you've got a winner!
I like the use of B&W w/ the Stills. Very Nicely done. You've got me wanting to go to Blockbuster and ask if they have your movie already.

Very well done... Hope to get to see the whole movie someday.
BTW, what gear did you use and is it all edited on Vegas? Your graphics on the trailer are really good, and the hint of the story really flows in the trailer.

We shot it on a GL2 using DV Rack and, yes, it was cut entirely in Vegas. Wayne Gerard scored it in Acid and Reason and we've been using Forge as well in post. VASST's Celuloid was also used on the picture (thanks for that one, guys).
The movie actually has a very similar feel to the trailer - a real mix of humor and drama with the occasional b/w cutaways and time-passing montages. It also has 20 songs in the soundtrack, including Anevis' "Remember," which was an AP remix contest tune last year. I decided to stray from a traditional narrative to try to get some attention (it's dark way down here and there are a lot of us grabbing for the rope...)

Question: The stills on which you used the people's names; were those B&W photoshop files with some sort of negative effect applied in Vegas/or Photoshop?

Some of the stills in the movie are PhotoShop-ped...some are Vegas. The ones in the trailer are all Vegas...Black and White to cut the color and then "extremed" using Brightness / Contrast.
The opening credits are all high-contrast b/w photos. That theme is revisited throughout the entire film.

Oh how I long to make films. Every time I see work like this I'm both inspired and intimidated. It's a paradox...but enough of me...that looks like great stuff!! Thanks for the inspiration...and for beating me into the dark corner of insecurity. :)
