OT - TV tuner card - how to?

Hey all -

Got a new tv with a Hauppauge TV media center TV tuner board.

It conflicted with Vegas (probably my fault) so I took it out and installed it on an older non-Vegas Windows XP computer.

It (according to Device Manager) is correctly installed.
So how do we get it to play TV on the computer?
Yes, we did hook up a working cable to the back of the board.

Or how do we upgrade to Windows Media Center from XP?

You'd think info like this would be easy to get - if it was, I wouldn't bother youse guys.

help??

You should have an application installed on your computer that came with the card. If you didn't get one go to Hauppagues(sp) web site and download one. You need this to be able to talk to the hardware and display the tv signal on the screen. Also usually you have to place an audio cable from the tv card(line out) to the line in of your sound card to get the audio.

I certainly would NOT recommend upgrading to Media Center XP. I got it on a laptop I purchased a few months back, and there is NOTHING in it that can't be download for free, or purchased for a few bucks from another vendor, and which does the operations much better. Most important, there is nothing in the Media Center XP operating system itself that has been tweaked or upgraded to make media play better, look better, etc. It is just a bundle of some second-rate Microsoft applications that are media related.

I am not a congenital Microsoft basher, but this particular effort just isn't worth much.
