OT - USB video format?

I have a client for the first time that want's a copy of their wedding on a USB flash drive. Just dropped my normal HD file on to it (MPEG-2 50p). Plugged the drive into my BD player. The video plays fine (and looks awesome :-) ) but no audio at all. Is there a preferred format for doing this??

mp4/aac 720p
almost universally playable

That's great; mp4 (avc) will occupy 30-50% less space at the same video quality, giving you a lot more capacity on a thumb drive.
