OT: Vegas 6 box shipping? Already being pirated.

p@mast3rs wrote on 4/22/2005, 1:53 PM
When do they ship? The reason I ask is that apparently there is a major leak somewhere, either within Sony or at the pressing plant as the entire Vegas6+DVD Architect 3 suite is already being pirated on the newsgroups. This is ridiculous. How is it that the pirates get their copy within days of the release while others who purchase a box version have to wait for shipping?

I hope Sony investigates and nails these jerks to the wall. It does nothing to help further the product and it surely doent reward the developers for their hard work.

certainly it is not right - but all software gets pirated -- anyway, how come you were on the warez newsgroups anyway ? (hahaha)

Actually I was searching for other reviews on Vegas 6 and it linked to some warez group. I dont have newsgroup access so I cant verify that it is there but according to newzbin.com, its posted in a warez newsgroup.

I received my boxed version day after order. 3 Cds? The pirates are even passing along the free sound effects (which are great by the way)? Sony really needs to nail them.

I got mine yesterday too. :)

Not to burst anyone's bubble, but V5 was piratable from just using the downloaded version from the sony site. It could be used indefinetly, except for the mpeg stuff due to registration.

I've never even heard of a piece of software that can't/hasn't been pirated. Heck, most games are out on the net BEFORE they even ship to retail outlets. I remembera big think about Halo 2. It was available about 2 weeks before release on warez.

Box version.....

I received content on CDs but the actual box was not sent together.
I remember this back a few years ago too, good to get the discs
and not wait for the litho boxes.

Upgrades do not get boxes. That's how it works.

Humm,

Me on my soapbox say:

Stealing software is stealing, no two ways about it. It is so wrong and the people who do it never win in the larger game.

I think it is criminal to take anyones stuff no matter how big they are and how many billions they have in sales.
There is no way to justify this as being right or condone the actions of those who find gradification in such action(s).

Thank you for the warning,
Marty

You guys are hilarious. :D

If Vegas 6 didn't show up on the warez groups within a few days of its release - THAT would be a bad sign!

Vegas doesn't come in a "box" and hasn't for several versions. You guys want something to whine about, how about "deceptive advertising"?

If you order the "boxed" version you CD's for version 4 and 5 were shipped in a cheesy envelope. No box. I know a minor point, its just funny, but so is getting upset over software appearing in warez groups^.

* there are several highly popular newsgroups were all kinds of software, cracks, key generators, etc., gets posted. Its hardly anything new, been around since newsgroups have which predate the Internet. Also, I bet somehwere in China some little factory is probably pressing CD's out like crazy. No, its not right, but it is how things are. Welcome to the real world.

This forum is such a fun place. Indded some of the posters without knowing it are often hilarious in what they get upset over.

The upgrades doesn't come in a box but the full software do.

Well duh... I think everyone understands that.

Hi,

As BillyBoy says, warez has always been with us, and probably always will be.
It would be a ridiculous waste of time for Sony or any other large software developer to try and "get these guys".
No matter how many "busts" of software pirates take place, there is always someone to take their place.
But the main reason large software companies don't waste too much time and effort on these people is because no matter how much lost revenue they claim to lose, they know that in actual fact 98% of the people who get hold of a pirated copy of software would never have purchased the original anyway.
Thay just seem driven by the desire to have the software without paying for it.
Once they have it, most just put it in the cupboard along with the rest of their warez collection.
It's just not worth losing any sleep over.
I would rather Sony spend all their time and effort on improving the product us legit users have paid for.
