I have to deliver a job to a client on VHS tape (50 copies). Can anyone recommend a particular blank tape that provides good (for VHS) quality? It is standard VHS, not S-VHS, and it will be played on consumer machines. Thanks,
Don
Actually, I was wondering about different grades, specs, and stuff like that. Looking at them on the shelf, it's hard to know whether "SuperDuper" is any better than "ExtraHighQuality" versus "SuperColorPro." The marketing names of the products don't carry any real information, do they? If only the boxes had dropouts per second, resolution and other "real" specs, like U-matic does.
Don't worry about the Grades, it's mainly just a marketing thing and has very little to do with the actual tape that is inside. I know when we used to get "High Grade" tapes, the actual tape that was loaded into the shell was the same as our "Regular Grade" tapes, the only diffrence was that the shell of the tape was made of more solid plastic, and making it a little more durable. We have found that the Fuji gives us the least dropouts and the best picture of all the tapes we have tried...and I can tell you we have tried pretty much every kind of tape out there!
Thanks a lot, Jsnkc, I appreciate the info and help. I am looking at http://www.tapestockonline.com/bast1bulvhs1.html as it seems to be a pretty good price of $1.19 each in qty of 50. Does that sound reasonable?
That URL is for BASF Tapes (we have had a lot of problems with those) Go with these instead http://www.tapestockonline.com/fujt1bulvhs1.html They are the Fuji 120Min tapes, a little more expensive (.12 c each), but they will give you a lot less problems and a good quality final tape. It seems like a good price, I'm not even sure what we are paying for ours these days but I'm sure it's a better price since we order thousands at a time, but we get ours from AVD www.avd.com
