OT: Video link not working

Dan Sherman wrote on 11/12/2007, 1:14 PM
ftp link to video works for client, but when he pastes it into his MLS real estate program the link doesn't work.
Soooo,---posted the video on You Tube.
Same result,----link works fine, except when pasted into the MLS program.
IT guy in Florida says the problem is that there are UPPER CASE characters in the link and THAT'S why it won't work in the real estate program.
Anyone shed light on this one? Much appreciated.
Have sent such links to clients in the past with no problem.

I guess making sure that the link in the MLS system link uses the same upper case characters is too obvious to have been overlooked? Upper case characters in themselves are not an issue, however for many webservers case is significant. MyVideo.wmv and myvideo.wmv are two different files. If the case doesn't match between the file on the server and the link then the file won't be found.

Spaces are also a killer. If the original link you sent to the client contained spaces in the file name then many browsers and servers will have difficulty parsing it correctly. Replace spaces with %20 or _ or leave them out completely.
