Been playing with camera matching live with virtual sets some software to try. Free!

Voodoo Camera Tracker : (output for Maya Script)

Converter for use with TrueSpace:

What it does in a nutshell:
Voodoo looks at objects in the live video and creates ref points
for your 3D software to use to creatate a virtual world including camera movement.
You then build your computer objects in this world and create a
chromakey sequence.
Using Vegas you then composite the two sequences together.

That sample video was pretty amazing. I swear if the colors of the block and cone were toned down a bit, I woulda never known they weren't real.

I can't wait to get into this stuff.

That is some impressively deceptive stuff! I'm amazed at today's technology.

Working with a green/blue screen I decided to place two objects
in the shot. Both are cardboard boxes 5' tall and painted different
colors on each visable side. These are placed left and right of the
talent far enough away to make matting them out easier.

These are simply to provide tracking reference points. Later
one could paint targets evenly spaced on the chromakey backdrop
in a color close to the keying color. (a lighter green or blue for
example)

Let everyone know how my project works out.

I have maya 6 and use the camer tracker in there. Has anyone done a comparison between voodo and the Maya tracker?

Very cool. My imagination is going crazy right now.

thanks,Rcourtney, I keep forgetting about voodoo for camera tracking. I use 2D3 probably too much. Like to see an example of your project in 3d space.

I'd love to check this out, but voodoo requires a tga image sequence. Does anyone know how to turn a video file into tga stills in V6?

I like Videomach. Now that Vegas 6 has the ability to read
sequence files you only need this for converting to tga.
