Either way, GWB has borrowed a little more money than all the previous presidents, from George Washington to Bill Clinton, combined. Thanks for the correction though.

One party, when in power, deserves the label "tax and spend." When the other ascends to the control the levers of power, the mantra is "borrow and spend."

Just depends on whose ox is gored. Ours or our children's. Only our children can't vote now.

The ability to borrow money is a truly wonderful thing. Unfortunately one tends to forget that it must eventually be paid back.... WITH interest!

This group of Republicans currently running the country truly does not care. Paying it back will be someone else's children's problem.
They continue to run up record setting debts, stop oversight through filibuster, waste huge sums of money and lives to steal other country's resources, and get away with it.

Why?

Because of the smokescreen provided for them by the American news media.

Moreover, According to The Street (Real Money) .com the Bush Administration "revised" it's GDP that they have touted through the news media for the past several years. It seems that they were a "bit off", ie: too high. The revised GDP are as follows:

-------Old----New
Q1-04 3.85% 2.96%
Q2-04 4.04% 3.48%
Q3-04 3.10% 3.60%
Q4-04 2.61% 2.55%
Q1-05 3.40% 3.07%
Q2-05 3.26% 2.81%
Q3-05 4.18% 4.46%
Q4-05 1.76% 1.19%
Q1-06 5.58% 4.82%
Q2-06 2.56% 2.44%
Q3-06 1.96% 1.07%
Q4-06 2.45% 2.09%
Q1-07 0.69% 0.60%
Q2-07 3.38%

So much for the lies about how the tax cuts (for the wealthy and oil companies) they want to make "permanent" have caused such a record setting growth in the economy.

Pack of liars.

Yeah, but the guys labeled "tax and spend" passed a deficit reduction bill their first year in office last time around. By the end of their 2 terms, they had slowed the rise of deficit and were paying it down.

Tax and Spend and Borrow and Spend are too simplistic. It's only counting 2 factors.
Both parties taxed, spent and borrowed. You have to see who is doing it responsibly.

Percentage of change up or down. Most were up, but not as much as they claimed for the past several years. I'd love to know the "real" numbers.

Quarter Old New Diff
Q1-04 3.85% 2.96% -0.89%
Q2-04 4.04% 3.48% -0.56%
Q3-04 3.10% 3.60% 0.50%
Q4-04 2.61% 2.55% -0.06%
Q1-05 3.40% 3.07% -0.33%
Q2-05 3.26% 2.81% -0.45%
Q3-05 4.18% 4.46% 0.28%
Q4-05 1.76% 1.19% -0.57%
Q1-06 5.58% 4.82% -0.76%
Q2-06 2.56% 2.44% -0.12%
Q3-06 1.96% 1.07% -0.89%
Q4-06 2.45% 2.09% -0.36%
Q1-07 0.69% 0.60% -0.09%
TOTAL ADJUSTMENT -4.30%

Here is an accurate account of SOME of the games Republicans play with the numbers and the news media is happy to repeat as fact.
