OT: What Video Card would you recommend for System

Hi All,
In the process of building a new machine. So Far I have
..INTEL BOXDP55KG MOTHERBOARD
Intel Core i7-860
8 GB.....Crucial Ballistix Tracer (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

I want to get a decent Video Card that will work well with Vegas and other apps. I am NOT a big Gamer so I don't need the crazy powerful ones
I figure I want to spend $100 or a bit more.

Thanks
Allen

something that supports DX 10/11 & has at least duel DVI out's. That'll keep you going for many years. :)

Thanks for the Advice and the Links -
now to figure out which one to get :)

Another silly question ... If I am looking at a card that has DDR2 memory is that a problem if my system/MB has DDR3 .. or as long as the motherboard has the right slot - PCI Express 2.0 x16 then I am OK?
I was looking at the
XFX HD-465X-ZDF2 Radeon HD 4650 1GB 128-bit DDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card

only $60 and good reviews

Thanks

the memory on the card & motherboard have no connection. Newer cards use DDR5, that's why those are cheaper I'm betting, but I'm also sure it won't make a difference for what you're doing.

If you're running apps that use 3d acceleration double check on what type of card they need. Some use special features of cards & require certain brands/models.

From the way you phrased this can I assume that Vegas (no 3rd party apps) does not use the 3d acceleration?

Thanks again

nope. If you don't care (like I don't) get either a) the cheapest card with what you want or b) the card that plays the neatest game you're going to buy. :D

I, too, got a cheap card, but now I'm creating a lot of 3d animations in Poser, Sketchup, etc., and I really could use a faster graphics adapter. . .

odds are a 3d card won't help while you're doing most of your work, it would help in previews, some FX, etc.
