OT: When you talk to the one you helped ban

Last night, I get this skype call from someone I've never met - he has a pleasant southern drawl - Says he wants to talk with me about using Vegas Pro - I happily oblige and for the next hour he expresses how much he loves Vegas Pro and wanted my insights around using it for a big project he's about to start shooting for HBO.

I give my insights, ask a few questions about who/what will be editing. Once that is hashed out - I suggest sticking with Vegas Pro.

As our conversation winds up, he says how much he has appreciated reading my posts on these forums (seems I have a level head when I post here) and that he was banned awhile back. I asked what his handle was.

He says with a slight twinge of humor - Coonass...

I just about fell over as I laughed. He went on to explain his frustration with being stuck in the middle of a large project that was quite time sensitive - and needed to vent.

I now have a new appreciation for those of you who work hard in this biz and who feel utter frustration when things go south in post - especially on a big project.

Bob (Coonass) - you're a gentleman and thanks for the wonderful phone chat last night

As far as I am concerned he needed something so he used you. Tomorrow he will be the same knucklehead. Of course that is my opinion and perhaps he learned a bit about the benefits of being cool and how much further you can get along in life by being nice. Perhaps the old coon dog will learn a new trick. You never know!

Interesting post Cliff.

By seeing the good in others, we improve ourselves.
