I always thought those Xacti's were a joke, however, the tests don't lie.

Yeah.... people have been laughing at that cam for a while now. The review puts egg on more than just a few faces.

Anything is "useable" if it fills a need. On the other hand the referenced review is a bit of joke. There's not a single objective measurement, just a relative rating compared to other cheap cameras. I find such reviews of questionable value, especially for their target audience.
I remember when JVC bought out the first afforable HD camera. It produced mostly horrid images but people who a had a clue persisted with careful lighting and/or ND filters and managed to coax pretty decent video out of it.
