This has been driving me nuts for some time and I can't figure it out.
Using XP Pro... I have a shortcut to Microsoft's Internet Explorer (the browser) on the desktop. Normally, I click it and bingo I can go to whatever web site I want. I have several shortcuts to specific pages like this one also as shortcuts on my desktop. All fairly basic stuff.
The question is WHY sometimes I can click on any of the Explorer shortcuts, it opens a second instance of the browser and sometimes is doesen't instead overiding the instance already open or sometimes it starts to build a list where one instance of the browser can have a little icon on the Task bar that offers a selection of all the sites I just visited all without using the back button. Is it just me or have others seen this and how come it happens sometimes and others not.
