I've searched the MS Knowledge base, posted on Cserve, will try here also (way more responsive here!!).
One of my apps started hanging, so I decided to re-install it. Discovered that the install could not complete because "registry editing has been disabled by [my] administrator". I am the only user of this machine running WinXP Pro. The only major changes in the last week or so was the installation of Norton Anti Virus 2004. The scan eliminated some viruses. The affected ap was not affected - the hanging started just yesterday.
If I try to run regedit or regedt32, I get the same message about disabled registry editing.
Is there any way of fixing this short of re-installing XP? Will a re-install (I'm thinking upgrade install) correct this problem?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
