seems to be the topic of the day (week?).

i've been dual booting xp / rc 7-64bit for a few months now. when my rtm 7-64 arrives i'll erase xp and continue with the dual boot until i'm sure it's working perfectly. (rc 7 has been perfect so far, but i'm not going to take any chances!).

i have my 'system' 80gb drive partitioned into two 40gb c: and d: (with xp on c: 7 on d:)

i have all my basic data on a 2nd drive - 500gb e: (all seagate drives), with both os pointing to it.

i have acronis b/ups on e: (they are about 5>6gb each - pretty quick to do a full resore from and i don't lose data)

(all my video projects are usually on ex hd's)

along with acronis b/ups, i have been keeping copies of all my current installation programs (about 6gb's worth).

since there's no upgrade path for either xp or rc, i'm simply going to install 7 rtm over xp, and install programs from e:

my data will remain intact (though it's also b/up'd on an ex hd), i reckon to reinstall everything should take about maybe 4 hours.

do what you like with this info.

thoughts welcome.

leslie

btw. once everythings fine, i shall use the 'free' 40gb partition for whatever 'new' os turns up. thought i might give linux one final bash, or alternatively, wait for the beta of win 8 ;-)
