OTish BUP files

I created some DVDs using DVD Architect and I'm wondering if it is safe to delete the BUP files. Are these backups and not needed? Thanks.

BUP files are a part of the DVD structure (along with IFO and VOB files) and shouldn't be deleted.

They are accessed by the player if for some reason the main files are corrupt. Delete them and take the consequences.
