Consistent they may be, but consistent with a professional editing environment they're not.

Cheesehole - I think it depends on how you've got your overall Windows look setup.

On your screenshot, it does look ok (ish). I'm on classic mode but have all my greys set a lot darker, because I like it like that. This means the new icons contrast a lot more and look very bright, particulary the white faders and mute buttons. As RednRoll says, I don't want to - and shouldn't have to - change my overall look to make Vegas look right.

have you tried switching the "look" of XP from XP theme to "classic" ?
perhaps you'll find that more to you liking ...

Perhaps you have outgrown V ?? you have a feature coming up = you need a NLE that can edit your feature. this isn't like a marrigae where you have to go to court and get a divorce from Vegas .. nothing says one can't have 2 NLE's !!!! or 3 ...
